Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. People unfamiliar with the term often think that there is a separate island west of Montreal however, the West Island is home to everything from Lachine west to the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay was not long in the city. Brugel was an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer. However, a growth increase caused her to surpass every dance partner she had. She admitted in an article published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. Once I surpassed the size of my male friends then I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school that led her in the right direction. Teacher who recommended she try getting a part in the school's annual production. She tried out and ended up playing the role of the main character of Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. For the last twenty years, her work has been seen on both the small and big screen. Her work gained most recognition when she landed her role as Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in Season 1 which was viewed only at times.
